Buying
Auctions are for everyone. Blue Dot Auctions welcomes the general public to all of our auctions and gallery show events. There is no cost to attend our auctions. There is no obligation to buy anything. If you are new to buying at auction, we invite you to come and observe. We strive to make bidding and buying at our sales, a simple, fun, & rewarding experience.
Preview & Inspection:
Preview hours are held for five days prior to each catalogued sale and two days prior to general/discovery sales. During preview, we encourage you to ask questions and closely inspect the items offered for sale. Left bids are accepted during preview hours, if you are unable to attend the actual sale. Blue Dot Auctions starts the bidding on items with left bids at half the amount of the highest left bid. Phone bidding can also be arranged at this time. If you choose to bid by phone, a auction representative will call you on the day of the sale several minutes before the lot is scheduled to come to the floor. The representative will act as your bidding agent, and direct you through the bidding process. On-line bidding is available for some auctions. Directions for on-line bidding will appear online under the auction description. Floor bidding can be registered anytime during preview or during the auction. Registration is quick & simple.
Buyer's Premium is 15%
Auction Houses garner their fees by charging both the buyer and seller a percentage of sale price for their service. This is standard practice throughout the auction industry. Blue Dot Auctions charges a standard buyer's premium of 15%. Always remember to factor the cost of the buyer's premium into your bidding.
